Hecla Greens Creek recognizes the importance of cultural and historic resources and is committed to protection or mitigation for such resources that may be encountered during project development and operations.
Goal: Prevent impacts to cultural resources, especially to any sites listed or eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
- Employees and contractors will be informed about relevant governmental regulations intended to protect cultural and historic resources.
- Cultural surveys will be completed prior to project construction, in coordination with the Forest Service.
- A plan for management of cultural resources will be prepared and distributed to the project team at the start of the project.
- If any previously unidentified cultural resources are unearthed or otherwise encountered during project construction, activities will cease in the area of discovery and the company will notify the Forest Service so that cultural resources can be identified and appropriate resource-protection measures can be developed and implemented.
