Working with us
We are BIG believers in local hire. 65 percent of Hecla Greens Creek employees have lived in Alaska for more than 15 years. We love having Alaskans as employees and one-third of our employees have been with us for 10 years or more. Maybe the fact that the average salary at Hecla Greens Creek is twice the average salary in Juneau has something to do with it. Or maybe it’s the great work/life balance or being part of a great, long-term team of qualified people who will always take the time to help you, train you and make sure you’re doing every job right.
Since 2011, we’ve provided almost $1 million supporting sustainable career development programs for our next generation of workers. The annual Pathway program begins with mine tours for middle school students and runs through high school with job shadowing and instruction. In 2014, we hired the first two successful-certification graduates, both of whom started in our Pathway program.
